The next time someone, however naively, asks if I am "forced" to dress this way, I will reply:
"Yes. My dad will disown me if I expose my arms and my husband will smack me around if strands of my hair are showing. I am as oppressed as you assume me to be. Want a pic to go with that?"
If only these budding journalists-cum-activists would fuck off and find real oppressed women to liberate.

I love this one
mwahaaha love it! :-D
I agree-I work in a newsroom & I get asked the most ridiculous questions sometimes (Unrelated but in Ramadhan a senior Executive Producer who lectured at DUT & is doing his PhD asked if little kids & babies have to fast too)
I usually just get asked if women in niqab are married, but yes, I've also been asked if I was told to wear it.
But I think it's my duty to dispel those misconceptions. If journalists who produce stories for a leading radio station are clueless despite the intense media coverage (BBC has a great feature on hijab/niqab) it is worrying. But at least they're asking questions so we can provide them with the right answers
But I'll try your response:-)
Love the last sentence/paragraph :)
